OVERVIEW
To work as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver a high standard of care to patients within our clients hospital. The post holder is responsible for managing the care of patients and the needs of their families, ensuring that high quality is maintained.
Treats patients who are sick or injured, gives advice and emotional support to patients and their families, provides doctor assistance, and takes care of patient paperwork as per departmental needs and service.
She/he is required to develop additional clinical skills specific to the area of appointment.
DUTIES (guideline only)
A staff nurse is a registered nurse who is involved in direct patient care with the responsibility of providing the highest standard of evidence based nursing care in partnership with other health care professionals.

SALARY
The salary is based on the national salary scale. €29,056 - €45,701
PARTICULARS OF OFFICE
You will be required to work the agreed roster / on call arrangements advised to you by your line manager. Your contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8.00am - 8pm over seven days to meet the requirements for extended day services in accordance with the terms of the Framework Agreement.

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
INFECTION CONTROL & HYGIENE
It is the responsibility of all staff across the hospital to ensure that infection control and hygiene standards are adhered to and maintained at all times.
NURSE SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Academic/Professional Qualifications and/or relevant Experience
Required:
Registered General Nurse (RGN) with The Nursing Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or eligible to register i.e. you must be in procession of a decision letter from the NMBI to undertake a period of adaptation, which must be passed in order to register as an RGN.
Minimum of one year’s experience (post graduate or undergraduate) in General Medical/Surgical nursing in an acute hospital setting within the past 4 years.
*If you trained in the EU or EEA or come from overseas where English is not your first language or primary language, you will need to demonstrate that you completed the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Test and achieved an overall score of 7.0. Please attach a copy of the IELTS test report with your completed application form.
** If you are registered with the NMBI but you have never worked in an English speaking facility for a period greater than 12 months, you will be required as part of the interview process, to complete and pass a short written exam.
